I failed to stop at a red traffic light this morning in the snow and ice. I had tried to brake and slid, I was concerned that the van behind me would hit me and having assessed that there was no traffic waiting at any other entrance to the junction went across the lights.
A traffic signal camera flashed twice. I am not certain how fast I was going but would think it to be between 10 – 15 mph.
I have 3 points currently for a speeding offence in December x. Thanks for your assistance
If you reject the fixed penalty and take this matter to court you may be able to persuade the court not to impose the penalty points – this will be on the basis that you did not mean to commit the offence and the vehicle was out of your control due to the ice.
You would have to give evidence on oath in order to raise this argument – the court may take the view that you were driving too fast for the conditions.
If you are up for a fight come back to me and I will be happy to assist further.
