My sister was stopped by police and was given a 21 day slip to repair faults to her car. She forgot to hand in the slip. The police then returned and asked more questions.
They found out she only had a provisional and that no-one was accompanying her over 21 etc. when she was driving/ stopped that day and this invalidated her insurance.
Can they still prosecute her even although they didn’t find out about her having no licence 2 months after they stopped her the first time?
Yes they can. They have up to 6 months to prosecute for this offence. She will get a summons to court for no insurance and the defects. She will get 6-8 points and a hefty fine I’m afraid.
