Is it a defence if the drugs in my system have been prescribed?

It can be in certain circumstances if the drugs are prescribed to you specifically and you have taken them in accordance with the prescription.

There is another offence of driving whilst unfit. This is effectively the old legislation that the police used to use when there were no drug driving limits in place. The police can still use this piece of legislation if they think that you were generally impaired/unfit to drive.
