Penalty Points And Fines In My Absence

Driving with no driving licence and no insurance

Hi,

Just wanted to ask what will happen if I was caught driving with no insurance and no driving licence?

Because I just received from the court some papers where I’m being endorsed with 6 points and a fine of £460. This has happened in my absence.

If so you are facing a ban for 6 months under the totting up/penalty point rules.

Have the court gone ahead and dealt with the matter without you knowing about it? If you deny the offence then you can ask them to reopen the case otherwise you can just accept the penalty and ask for time to pay. The penalty imposed is normal for this type of offence.
