Speed Trap – Officer Was Hiding!

Question:

Can an officer hide behind a van on the road so that he can convict me of an offence? He said “I always come here at 5 o clock as people try to take a short cut.” Is this sort of speed trap not entrapment?

The officer can hide in a bush wearing camouflage if he so chooses I’m afraid. There are guidelines to suggest that they should be visible but they are only guidelines and the court will only concern itself with whether or not the speed reading is accurate.

It’s not entrapment if he didn’t encourage you to speed.
