Vague NIP

Question:

Speeding

I have just received a notice from the police to say I was caught doing 39mph in a 30 zone. I am very surprised by this, when I look at the area it is usually a very slow moving strip of road and I am unsure whether I was doing this.

Can you tell me if I can contact them to get the evidence of this so I can pin point the exact location?

Don’t do anything yet. Just tell me what the NIP says in relation to the location of the alleged offence. The NIP has to be precise so if it is too vague you may have a defence.

If you tell them its too vague within the 14 days allowed to send an accurate NIP then they may just amend the NIP within the 14 days therefore correcting the mistake within the time allowed.
